Summary:

The spectro-temporal tuning of light for the detection and treatment of ocular conditions. A conference by Raymond P. Najjar,  Deputy Director of Research and Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr Najjar’s research focuses on understanding how light affects human physiology and behavior beyond vision. Dr Najjar's team is currently investigating the mechanisms and novel purposes for light-therapy in myopia and developing novel and affordable ocular investigation strategies using pupillometry, eye tracking, and machine learning. In this talk, Raymond will share on some of his team's latest findings on harnessing non-visual responses to light with machine learning to detect eye diseases and optimizing light exposure for myopia prevention."

Bio:

Raymond is a local, yet very International researcher! After his initial training in Lebanon, he came to Lyon to do his M2 in our Neuroscience Doctoral School, then embarked on a PhD on Chronobiology at Inserm after receiving a 3-year bursary/Fellowship, and a Postdoc in Stanford University on non-visual photobiology. He came back for a short 6-month Postdoc in Lyon, and flew to Singapore to develop his own field of research.  

Raymond is Assistant Professor, Deputy Director of Research in the Department of Ophthalmology; Head, Eye N' Brain Research Group, Co-Lead, Community Eye Care | Center for Innovation & Precision Eye Health, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is also Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is also Research Scientist in the ASPIRE Research Program | Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), and Assistant Professor in the Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences ACP I Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore
