Research Project
I'm studying about the relationship between light and wakefulness and sleep, we use state of art equitment and powerful softwares to explore non-visual mechanisms involved in the wake-promoting effects of light in rodents and humans. There are many physiological (non-visual) effects of light in humans, like changes of alertness and cognitive. People usually open their eyes unconsciously when they were sleeping, but this phenomenon is rarely observed. So does the light signal received by the eyes(intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells; ipRGCs) during this period affect the human body’s functions?
