Abstract : Math plays an increasingly important role in our daily lives, but differences in math skills appear very early, especially for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Falling behind in kindergarten can lead to difficulties later on. This work had two goals: to create a tablet app, AxéMaths, to strengthen early math skills, and to test its effectiveness in classrooms. Two studies involving nearly 2,000 children from disadvantaged backgrounds showed that the app improved calculation and problem-solving skills, with benefits lasting up to seven months. These findings suggest that well-designed digital tools, combined with teacher support, can help all children build strong math foundations from an early age.

A friendly reception will follow at the Neurocampus, to which you are warmly invited!
