Usages et mésusages des tests statistiques : quel impact sur nos travaux scientifiques ? Séance n°2

Bonjour à toutes et à tous !
 

Toujours très présents dans nos articles, les tests statistiques restent un des éléments les plus problématiques de la zone grise de l’intégrité scientifique. Que nous dit exactement la p-value ? Puis-je ajouter des données pour devenir significatif ? Comment choisir a priori la taille de mon échantillon ?

Pour répondre à ces questions et d’autres encore, le groupe de réflexion sur l’intégrité scientifique organise un cycle de présentations/discussions autour de l’utilisation des statistiques ouvert à tous les membres du CRNL, aussi bien jeunes chercheurs et chercheuses que seniors :

À noter que les diapos seront en anglais et les présentations/discussions préférentiellement en français, mais nous nous adapterons au public.

1. Quelle est l’information contenue dans le résultat d’un test statistique ?
   Quels sont les risques d’interprétation incorrecte des tests statistiques ? 
   Attention aux pratiques de recherche douteuses (QRP) ! (Nicolas Kuczewski)
2. Des concepts importants pour l’interprétation de nos données : puissance d’un test statistique, intervalle de confiance, effect size … (Nicolas Kuczewski et Tao Jiang)
3. Démonstrations d’outils logiciels gratuits (Tao Jiang et Claude Gronfier)

Uses and misuses of statistical tests: what impact on our scientific work?

Always very present in our articles, statistical tests remain one of the most problematic elements of the grey area of scientific integrity. What exactly does the p-value tell us? Can I add data to become significant? How do I choose my sample size a priori?

To answer these and other questions, the scientific integrity group is organising a series of presentations/discussions on the use of statistics, open to all members of the CRNL, both young and senior researchers:

Please note that the slides will be in English and the presentations/discussions preferably in French, but we will adapt to the audience.

   What are the risks of incorrect interpretation of statistical tests?
   Beware of questionable research practices (QRP)! (Nicolas Kuczewski)
2. Important concepts for the interpretation of our data: power of a statistical test, confidence interval, effect size... (Nicolas Kuczewski and Tao Jiang)
3. Demonstrations of free software tools (Tao Jiang and Claude Gronfier)
