Dezső NEMETH -MEMO Team of CRNL and his PhD student, in collaboration with the University of Greenwich (London, UK) and SOTE Medical School (Budapest, Hungary), have published a new theory of autism in Perspectives on Psychological Science. The theory explains autism from a new perspective, placing a greater emphasis on the role of personal distance. They argue that people with autism have a different perception of personal space than neurotypical people, and that this difference can lead to a number of the symptoms associated with autism.
The Personal Distance Theory of Autism is still in its early stages of development, but it has the potential to significantly improve our understanding of this complex disorder.
