To understand normal and pathological brain functions in human and non-human models. To develop procedures for cognitive enhancement and rehabilitation. To develop and test new technologies and industrial prototypes for health care (patient-tailored treatments), simulation and entertainment industry (e.g., serious games).
About 150 m2 devoted to Virtual Reality systems (3x2m power wall, 10 head-mounted displays, 3 with 250Hz eye-tracking and pupilometer) allowing for multisensory 3D stimulation (Vision, Touch, Audition, Olfaction, Haptics). Motion tracking (2 rooms, 6 and 11 cameras), 6 full body mocap suits (4 inertial, 2 optical) and objects tracking with 6-dof haptic force feedback. Physiological recordings for brain-computer interfaces (wireless high-density EEG, EMG, GSR) or for use with neuro-stimulation (TMS-compatible EEG). Neurostimulation systems (stereotactic neuro-navigated TMS, tDCS).
Neuro-immersion is an original and challenging association of cutting-edge immersive virtual reality systems and state-of-art cognitive and clinical neuroscience tools. N-i provides full control of multisensory inputs and motor outputs during either brain activity recording or brain stimulation, allowing advanced basic and clinical research protocols in healthy subjects and in neurological patients. N-i gives access to cutting-edge Virtual Reality systems with multisensory 3D stimulation and motion tracking to reintroduce real life complexity into rigorously controlled experimental settings (Naturalistic Neuroscience). Neuro-immersion allows to couple dynamically adaptive, life-like contents with brain activity recordings (3T fMRI at Cermep, high-density EEG, TMS-compatible EEG, EMG, GSR, … ) and stimulation (stereotactic neuro-navigated TMS, tDCS, GVS …), to gain unprecedented mechanistic understanding of brain functions. Services and Support N-i is open to internal (CRNL) and external users (research labs, HCL, academic or private). Services range from the independent use of the various facilities to the full methodological and logistic support (including experimental design, technology watch, feasibility study, data analyses and final study report). Expertise is proposed in VR software development using Unity 3D environment. Applications for learning, memory, social interaction on-line animated realistic avatars, neurocognitive rehab, emotion, man machine interfacing… Rates INSERM-established rates vary according to equipment and service provided, with hourly-based rates for on-site, academic, and industrial/private users. Coded rates examples for on-site teams: TMS 7€/h; VR-HDM 45€/h; VR-WALL 45€/h; EyeTrack 11€/h; EEG 19€/h; and for private: TMS 150€/h; VR-HDM 360€/h; VR-WALL 350€/h; EyeTrack 520€/h; EEG €/h 530€/h. Customers-based rates are also possible based on specific needs.
